Good Morning Underwater Hockey Land,
I’d like to recap the Marquette & Marinette Youth Fund-raising Tournament which was held December 2, 2023 at the River Cities Pool in Marinette, Wisconsin, USA. We had 43 players for the 8 hour tournament, and of those 43 players, 24 players were schools players. 17 of them were classified as Rookies who have been playing less than one year and 12 of them being their first tournament!
With the format being pot luck, we had 6 teams of 7 players each, with 2 experienced players being the captains of the team to help guide, coach and mentor their teams for the day. I cannot thank these captains strongly enough as they all took time to help coach their teams and individual players to make them have the most fun, but help them grow with in the sport. Every team played 5 matches against the other teams in a full round robin format.
We followed up the tournament with our banquet at the King Buffet where we did the team awards and the coveted raffle draw. I’d like to thank CanAm Underwater Hockey Gear & Hydro Underwater Hockey for their continued support with this tournament year after year as they provide prizes for our gear raffle. We would also like to thank Jessie Shaw/River Cities Pool for their continued support of the underwater hockey program at their awesome pool. We look forward to hosting this tournament once again in 2024, until then, keep your stick on the bottom.
